Cyclist's log, spoke date 20081117.226
Today's weather was: COLD, snowy this morning, highs in the 30's today.

I didn't do anything over the weekend; I was completely run down by last week's exercise and stress. Just look at this week I had:

Green=miles cycled, Blue=miles walked
Pink=miles cycled and walked (cycled, walked)
Gray=no activity that day

I'm adding here my monthly weigh-in as well; around the middle of the month, I weigh and take measurements to document my progress. Here's the latest facts about my figure:

As of 11/17/2008, and since 1/1/2008...
Weight: 139
Height: 66"
Chest: 35"
Waist: 27"
Hips: 35"
Neck: 13"

Pounds fat: 23.9
Pounds lean: 115.1
Current BMI: 22.43 (normal)
Current BF%: 17.2% (athletic)
Current WHR: 0.77 (avocado)

Today's exercise
Morning
Walked 3.0 miles at an average speed of 3.8mph.

Lunch-time
Staying warm!!!

Afternoon
Walking home in the snow. 3.0 miles.

Evening
I did 35 minutes, which is 8.2 miles on the trainer. Boss fight took longer than expected!

Total miles for the day: 3.0 miles

Cool!

You may have already said at some point, but how do you determine # of lbs lean/fat and BF%?

I've been awful about exercise lately (aside from walking the dog), but that's what happens when there's a wedding to plan and a semester to finish (not to mention PhD qualifying exams to take in Jan)

Thanks!

I had to check my formulas. To calculate BF%, I first calculated pounds of fat using this formula:

(4.15* Waist (inches))-(0.082* Weight)-76.76

So, in my case, (4.15*27)-(0.082*139)-76.76 is 23.9 pounds of fat.

To get pounds of lean weight, I just subtracted the pounds of fat (23.9) from my weight (139) to get 115.1 pounds.

BF% is calculated by dividing pounds of fat by weight, so 23.9/139 is 17.2% body fat.

I hope that makes sense!

It's really hard exercising in the winter, and especially with a wedding and exams!!! By walking to and from work, I have no choice but to put in about 90 minutes of exercise a day, which is great. I also make myself get on the bike trainer when I want to play my video game. I get a great workout AND get to play Final Fantasy X :)
